PDQ is thrilled to represent Region 12 as the current 2010 Sweet Adeline
Regional champion quartet.  We’ve thought about what, in our musical
past, has brought us to this place and thought that sharing those
memories would help you to know us better.

There is a family tape recording of lead, Leah Brooks, singing, "It Was
Fascination...I Know", at two years old. This was the only line she knew
so she repeated, "I know, I know, I know, I know", over and over until
the tape was finally shut off.  Leah’s history also includes some early
community theater, where she PLAYED two DUCKS…  it was a non-
QUACKING part!  Winning the championship was a long-desired and long-
planned-for moment. Leah was so happy and excited that she jumped up
and down - in high heels! She had to remember to, "Be present!”, and,
“Stay in the moment!"

Bass, Laura Conners, has been singing for as long as she can remember,
having grown up in a Barbershop Family (including her grandfather, three
uncles, her Mom, and her husband). Her Mom sang in a “female quartet”
before Sweet Adelines was born, and Laura watched and learned from
her inspirational Mom.  She became an honorary member of the San
Francisco Chorus as a girl and sang on one of their shows at age 14.  In
her senior year of high school, she played Elsa, the Baroness, in, “The
Sound of Music”, and was active in theatre all through high school.  She
says she is very excited to be part of this PERFECTLY DIVINE QUARTET...

From the time she was 2 years old everyone in baritone, Kathy Hebert’s,
family knew she was going to be a singer for life.  Kathy’s Mom claims she
would stand in front of the TV and hum every song perfectly in tune when
"Sing Along with Mitch" came on.  She considers herself lucky that she
got to sing barbershop music in her senior year of high school, thanks to
her choir director.  5 years later she ran into the same high school
director.  He was directing a Sweet Adelines chorus and asked her to
come and join... and she never looked back!  She has often PONDERED
and DREAMED about being a regional QUARTET champion and truly feels
it’s an honor and privilege to be a member of PDQ.

If you ask tenor, Karrie Colette, how long she’s been singing, the answer
would be, “Before I could talk!”.  She moved around a lot growing up and
music was the one constant in her life, albeit with some unconventional
choices. She listened to classical and jazz all through school and her high
school director introduced her to the MacKenzie Touring Company, a men’
s barbershop comedy quartet from the Eugene area.  Talk about hooked!
Karrie was also involved in nearly every music group and theatre
production possible in her town.  She said this past regional contest was
POTENTIALLY the most DELIRIOUSLY exciting QUARTET experience of
her life (so far)!
